The present book is an outcome of keen interest and long association with the land and people of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The book has been divided into 13 chapters and written in the simplest language. One of the main purpose of writing this book is to introduce the readers about key aspects related to the Land and People of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The book contains two broad aspects: Land and People. The first aspect 'Land' deals with geological formation of Islands, physical features with special reference to physiography, climatic conditions, drainage system, soils, natural vegetations and natural resources. The second aspect concerns to 'People', the special emphasis on the aboriginal tribes or primitive tribes and its socio-cultural features, demographic profiles, administrative structure, urbanisation and urban life, trade and transportation system, tourism, strategic significance of Islands and problems and prospects of development of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. I hope that this book would be immensely useful for Students, Researchers, Academics, Tourists and also for all those individuals who are interested to know about the unique emerald Islands in detail.
