The concept of development is multidimensional and inter-disciplinary in nature. Traced back to the beginning of the subject geography as a discipline, major themes like man-nature relation, human interaction with the land surface etc. have been prominent points of discourses. However, in recent times such reciprocal interactions have undergone severe changes which in turn, have restructured the concept and definition of development. The book Geography and Development: Recent Issues and Challenges is multi-disciplinary in nature where 21 various chapters ranging from physical to social and economic to ecological issues have encompassed various recent challenges of modern world like: rural health, urban waste management, flood susceptibility, ecotourism and sustainable tourism, transport system, crop diversification, soil and vegetation, water resource and forest resource management etc. How geography as a social and spatial science has assessed, interpreted and redefined these challenges is the main thrust of this book.
