This book is a compilation of eighteen articles on various issues related to health in contemporary India. Health is a pre-requisite not only for all life processes, but also is a basic element for human and national development. About the Authors	Professor (Dr.) Anuradha Banerjee, is a senior faculty in the Centre for the Study of Regional Development, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. She offers courses in Geography and Population Studies at M.A., M.Phil and Ph.D. levels. Under her supervision, 27 scholars have been awarded Ph.Ds and 49 scholars awarded M.Phil degrees. Her research areas include Population, Health, Geography, Urbanisation and Migration, Environment and application of GIS and Remote Sensing. She has authored books on Sundarbans and Contemporary Urbanisation in India. Besides, she is the author of 21 chapters in edited books and 33 articles in Indian and foreign journals. Besides she has been associated with various projects sponsored by Department of women and Child Development, MoHRD, UGC-UNFPA, UNIFEM, ICSSR and IIDS. She has been President of INCA, 2015, and has been a member and expert of various committees of UGC, CARE among others.
